RESTORATION OF THE KINGDOM (1814 and 1815-1848)

20 Francs - 1815 - L

This coin's obverse pictures King Louis XVIII (b1755-d1824).  Below the base of the bust is the the signature Tiolier for the graveur général Pierre Joseph Tiolier. The reverse has the crowned royal arms in the centre encircled by a wreath and the French legend PIECE DE 20 FRANCS (20 Francs piece) with the date 1815 at the bottom with the mintmark L to the right (for the Bayonne mint) and the flower privy mark to the left.  Louis was restored by the Allies but was removed upon Bonaparte's return to Paris.

This coin's obverse pictures King Louis XVIII (b1755-d1824).  LOUIS XVIII is to the left of the bust and ROI DE FRANCE (King of France) to the right of the bust.  Below the base of the bust is the engraver's name TIOLIER.  and a horse's head. The reverse has the crowned royal arms in the centre encircled by a wreath and the French legend PIECE DE 20 FRANCS (20 Francs piece) with the date 1815 at the bottom with the mintmark Q to the right (for the London mint) and the grape bunch privy mark to the left.  Louis was restored by the Allies but was removed upon Bonaparte's return to Paris.

The reverse has the crowned royal arms in the centre encircled by a wreath with the denomination 20 F to the right and left of the arms. The date 1817 is at the bottom with the mintmark Q to the right (for the Perpignan mint) and the grape bunch privy mark to the left.

This coin's obverse pictures King Louis XVIII (b1755-d1824).  LOUIS XVIII is to the left of the bust and ROI DE FRANCE (King of France) to the right of the bust.  Below the base of the bust is the engraver's name MICHAUT F. and a horse's head. The reverse has the crowned royal arms in the centre encircled by a wreath with the denomination 40 F to the right and left of the arms. The date 1818 is at the bottom with the mintmark W to the right (for the Lille mint) and the caduceus bunch privy mark to the left.
