The obverse features the toughra of Sultan Abd al-Mejid (b1823-d1861), the Ottoman Turkish ruler from 1839 to 1861.  In 1853, he resisted Russia's attempt to act as protector for the Christians in the Ottoman Empire which led to the Crimean War. Below the toughra is the regnal year 7 in Arabic and to the right is EL-GHASI. The reverse has an Arabic legend with  QUSTANTINIYAH (the Turkish name for Constantinople) and the accession year of 1255.

Below the toughra is the regnal year 11 in Arabic. The reverse has an Arabic legend with  QUSTANTINIYAH (the Turkish name for Constantinople) and the accession year of 1277.

The obverse features the toughra of Sultan Mehmet VI (also known as Muhammed VI, brother of Muhammed V, b1861-d1926), the Ottoman Turkish ruler from 1918-1922. Mehmet fled Turkey in 1922. Below the toughra is the regnal year 2 in Arabic. The reverse has an Arabic legend with  QUSTANTINIYAH (the Turkish name for Constantinople) and the accession year of 1336.

The obverse has a Turkish legend in Arabic script for the republic and the AD date of 1929 within a wreath.   The reverse has a crescent and star with a Turkish legend in Arabic script. The date 23 Nisan 1336 celebrates the establishment of the republic.  This was the last gold coin minted using Arabic script.

The obverse features the Ismet Inönü (b1884-d1973), military leader and the second president of the Turkish Republic surrounded by a Turkish legend with the issuing city ANKARA below the bust.  The reverse has the country's name TÜRKÏYE CUMHERÏYETÏ and 1923, the date of the foundation of the Republic, and 20, the year since the founding of the Republic, all within a wreath of wheat sheaves.

The obverse features the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (b1881-d1938), the founder and first president of the Turkish Republic surrounded by a Turkish legend with the issuing city ANKARA below the bust.  The reverse has the country's name TÜRKÏYE CUMHERÏYETÏ and 1923, the date of the foundation of the Republic, and 34, the year since the founding of the Republic, all within a wreath of wheat sheaves.
