The obverse features King Johann (b1801-d1873) encircled by the German inscription for JOHAN V.G.G. KING OF SAXONY.  Below the bust is the mint mark E for the Dresden mint.  The reverse has the German Imperial arms encircled by the German legend for GERMAN EMPIRE, the date 1873, and, at the bottom, the denomination 20 M.
