This coin's obverse pictures the bareheaded Emperor Napoleon III (b1808-d1873).  NAPOLEON III is to the left of the bust and EMPEREUR (Emperor) to the right of the bust.  Below the base of the bust is the engraver's name Barre with privy marks of a hand and an anchor to the left and right, respectively. The reverse has the crowned imperial arms. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS surrounds the arms at the top. the denomination 50 FR  flanks the arms and the date 1857 is below with the mintmark A (for the Paris mint) to the left and anchor privy mark to the right.


100 Francs - 1859 - A

This coin's obverse pictures the bareheaded Emperor Napoleon III (b1808-d1873).  NAPOLEON III is to the left of the bust and EMPEREUR (Emperor) to the right of the bust.  Below the base of the bust is the engraver's name Barre with privy mark of a hand above. The reverse has the crowned imperial arms. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS surrounds the arms at the top. the denomination 100 FRs flanks the arms and the date 1859 is below with the mintmark A (for the Paris mint) to the left and anchor privy mark to the right.

This coin's obverse pictures a laureate bust of Emperor Napoleon III (b1808-d1873).  NAPOLEON III is to the left of the bust and EMPEREUR (Emperor) to the right of the bust.  Below the base of the bust is the engraver's name Barre with privy mark of a bee to the left and an anchor top the right. The reverse has the denomination 5 FRANCS and the date 1867 in the centre encircled by a wreath. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS surrounds the wreath at the top. The mintmark A (for the Paris mint) is below the wreath.
