The obverse features the Russian royal arms with the Finnish lion on the shield on the breast. To the left is the country's name in Swedish and to the right in Finnish. The mintmaster's initial S (for Augusts Soldan) is found to the right of the eagle's tailfeathers. The reverse has the denomination 10 MARKKAA and date 1878 within the circle with the alloy in a ring outside the circle (2,903 grams of gold and 0,322 grams of copper.
