The obverse features a bust of King Leopold II (b1835-d1909).  The legend LEOPOLD II ROI DES BELGES (Leopold II King of the Belgians) surrounds the bust.  The designer's initials LW are below the bust along with the date 1875.  The reverse has the Belgian arms with the French legend L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE (Unity makes Strength) around the top. The denominations flank the the bottom of the arms.

The obverse displays a bust of King Albert (b1876-d1934) surrounded by the Flemish legend ALBERT-KONING-DER-BELGEN.  The reverse has the Belgian arms with the denomination 20 F.  flanking the the sides of the arms.  The date 1914 is at the bottom. The coin has a lettered edge enscribed GOD BESCHERM BELGIE.
