This is a modest collection of second millennium gold coins of Austria from the late-1800s into the 20th Century

EMPIRE

1 Ducat - 1848E

KM-2262 - 3,49 g - 20 mm

The obverse features a bust of Emperor Ferdinand I (b1793-d1875). FERD - I -D-G-AVSTR-IMP-HVNG-BOH - R - H - N - V - (Ferdinand I by Grace of God, Emperor and King of Hungary, Bohemia) surrounds the bust.  There is the E mintmark below the bust (for the Gyulafehervar Hungary mint).  The reverse has has the imperial Austro-Hungarian arms with GAL - LOD -ILL - A - A - 1848 - REX - LOMB - ET - VEN - DALM - (Galicia, Lod, Illyrium, A A 1848 King of Lombardy Venetia and Dalmatia) around the sides. On 15 March 1848, the Hungarians revolted and established a independent republic.  The Austrians crushed this rebellion late that year.  This coin was minted in this momentous year.


4 Florins/10 Francs - 1892 (RESTRIKE)

The obverse features a bust of Emperor Franz Josef (b1830-d1916). FRANCISVS-JOSEPHVS-I-D-G-IMPERATOR-ET-REX- (Franz Josef I by Grace of God, Emperor and King) surrounds the bust.  There is a star below the bust.  The reverse has has the imperial Austro-Hungarian arms with IMPERIVM AVSTRIACVM (Austrian Empire) around the top. The denominations flank the eagle's tail feathers. The date 1892 is at the bottom.

10 Corona - 1908

Mintage - 0,654M

The obverse features a bust of Emperor Franz Josef (b1830-d1916). The coin was struck to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Franz Josef's reign.  FRANC-JOS-I-D-G-IMP-AVSTR-REX-BOH-GAL-ILL-ETC-ET-AP-REX-HVNG (Franz Josef I by Grace of God, Austrian Emperor and King of Bohemia, Galicia, Illyrium, Etc. and King of Hungary) surrounds the bust.  The reverse has has the imperial Austro-Hungarian arms with DVODECIM LVSTRIS GLORIOSE PERACTIS around the top. The dates 1848 and 1908 flank the eagle's tail feathers. The denomination 10 CORONAE  is at the bottom.

FRANC-JOS-I-D-G-IMP-AVSTR-REX-BOH-GAL-ILL-ETC-ET-AP-REX-HVNG (Franz Josef I by Grace of God, Austrian Emperor and King of Bohemia, Galicia, Illyrium, Etc. and King of Hungary) surrounds the bust.  The reverse has has the imperial Austro-Hungarian arms with X CORONA MDCCCCXII around the top. The denominations 10 C flank the eagle's tail feathers. The date 1909 is at the bottom.

The obverse features a bust of Emperor Franz Josef (b1830-d1916). FRANC-JOS-I-D-G-AUSTRIAE IMPERATOR (Franz Josef I by Grace of God, Emperor of the Austrias) surrounds the bust.   The reverse has has the imperial Austro-Hungarian arms with LOD -ILL - EX-A-A-1951-HVNGAR-BOHEM-GAL (Lod, Illyrium, King of A A 1951 of Hungary, Bohemia, and Galicia)  around the arms. This is the 1915 restrike with the error date.


REPUBLIC

25 Schillings - 1931

KM-2841 - 5,88 g - 21 mm

Mintage - 0,169M

The obverse features the Austrian Republic arms with REPUBLIK above and ÖSTERREICH below.  The reverse has the denomination between two sprigs. The date 1931 is near the bottom split between two sheaves of wheat and the designer's name HARTIG below.


100 Schillings - 1931

KM-2842 - 23,52 g 

Mintage - 0,102M

The obverse features the Austrian Republic arms with REPUBLIK above and ÖSTERREICH below.  The reverse has the denomination between two sprigs. The date 1931 is near the bottom with stars on either side and the designer's name HARTIG below.


1000 Schillings -1976

KM-2933 - 13,50 g

 Mintage - 1,800M

This NCLT "coin" commemorates the millennium of the Babenburg Dynasty. The obverse features the Austrian Republic arms with the country's name around the top and the denomination below.  The reverse features a knight on horseback within a circle. The dates 976-1976 and the German inscription EINSETZUNG DER BABENBERGER outside the circle.

500 Schillings -  2000

KM-? - 10,00 g

This NCLT "coin" commemorates the 2000th anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. The obverse features a depiction of the birth of Jesus within a circle.  Outside the inner circle the legends REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH above and the denomination 500 SCHILLING below.  The reverse features a facing portrait of Jesus Christ.
